uNiBoard v1.1 is going places !!
It started off with CDAC Hyderabad, the traveling streak for uNiBoard continued with CDAC Pune and lately with the Indian Air Force, HQ – Eastern Air Command, Shillong.
Since last month, with all these orders in the pipeline (now accomplished) we decided to change the uNiBoard v1.1 packaging to a more robust and secure plastic packaging (refer photograph below) which not surprisingly could withstand upto half a dozen flight take-offs and landings and a chopper ride without a fragile tag. Not to forget a Volvo bus ride as well for delivery to CDAC Pune.
Within no time as expected the board has become an essential accessory to have for rapid prototyping. Among the notable projects built on uNiBoard v1.1 of late is the one in which the team was able to develop a working prototype of a wireless PS2 based keyboard. We plan to put this up on the http://code.google.com/p/uniboard pretty soon.
Apart from these items, whats also in the pipeline is a CMOS camera interface on the uNiBoard, an Embedded Web server running on the board, and a graphic LCD interface on the uNiBoard to convert it to a full fledged game development platform. This apart there are a few more open projects which are listed out here: http://code.google.com/p/uniboard/wiki/TODO
For some of the upcoming training programs (Summer training) we plan to give-away this platform to the participants and come up with some uNiBoard related activity sessions for you pretty soon. That much from our side plus some cool pics of the Shillong trip (any show-off is purely unintentional).
Incidentally, most people, even at ThinkLABS find it easier to type Uniboard rather than uNiBoard, as can be seen from the labels in the photographs. However, thanks to the hundred plus pages of documentation, our hands automatically stretch out to the shift key while doing so. Nevertheless, which ever case format you prefer, we would love to hear from you all what more you would want to see on the uNiBoard v1.1.
